Curriculum Vitae
My first degree is in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering ("Politehnica" University of Bucharest). I subsequently pursued a master by research in psychophysics at the University of Durham, under the supervision of Dr Hannah Smithson. The topic of my research project was related to plasticity in visual and auditory perception, in particular how we learn to discriminate noise that exists in visual and auditory stimuli.
In 2010 I moved to Oxford as a research assistant, and later I started my studies as a PhD student, under the supervision of Dr Roi Cohen Kadosh.
Research
My current work aims to answer questions about how numerical information is learnt and represented in the brain, in the case of numerate and innumerate populations, by using magnetic resonance imaging, non-invasive brain stimulation and behavioural testing.
I also have a strong interest in music cognition topics such as: music and emotion, perception of tonal
structures, music and consciousness, and the sensory integration of
multimodal stimuli in the perception of film music.
