The lab's work focuses on several fields including numerical cognition, cognitive enhancement, synaesthesia, cortical and neuronal specialisation, skill learning and automaticity. Our work involves typical and special populations (developmental dyscalculia, individuals with synaesthesia), and combines cognitive models with neuroscientific methods such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), non-invasive brain stimulation techniques (transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial electric stimulation (TES)), and electroencephalography (EEG) to examine cognitive and neuroscientific theories.
We recently extended our work to systematically examine the issue of neuronal specialisation of number representation, and are applying these findings to the field of typical and atypical development, cortical plasticity, and learning.
